iLux

The iLUX device is a hand-held mobile treatment option for meibomian gland obstruction (MGD). The device allows the eyelid tissue to be warmed to a therapeutic level which softens the meibum. After the heating cycle, gentle compressions are applied to express the meibum through the orifices to relieve the gland obstructions. The iLux Device has been shows to significantly reduce dry eye symptoms such as gritty eyes and ocular surface irritation.

Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)

Intense pulsed light (IPL) is the first-of-its kind, drug-free, drop free, light-based treatment utilizing Lumenis Optimal Pulse technology (OPT). This advanced technology delivers a pulse of light to selectively target abnormal blood vessels, reducing inflammation, and eradicating bacteria and demodex mites which contribute to dry eye. Low Light Level Therapy                   (LLLT)

The Equinox by Marco is Low Level Light Therapy (LLLT). LLLT uses Red Light to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. Red Light is absorbed by the mitochondria and stimulates ATP increasing cellular activity which helps to the glands to produce meibum and helps melt the meibum to increase turnover in the fight against dry eye symptoms.

Nutraceuticals-Hydroeye

Hydroeye is the nutraceutical of choice to target dry eye from the inside out. This patented formula delivers a proprietary blend of omega fatty acids (GLA, EPA, and DHA) and provides antioxidants and other nutrients that work in synergy to support all 3 layers of the tear film.

Prescription Eye Drops

Restasis (cyclosporine ophthalmic emulsion) 0.05% was the first prescription eye drop available to help you produce more tears. It targets inflammation to increase tear production. It is available in a preservative free vial or multidose bottle. Recommended doseage is twice daily, 12 hours apart.

Cequa (cyclosporine 0.09% ophthalmic solution) is a calcineurin inhibitor immunosuppressant that incorporates nanomicellar technology to allow a higher concentration of medication to be absorbed into the eye to to aid in tear production. It is available in preservative free vials and the recommended doseage is twice daily, 12 hours apart.

Xiidra (lifitegrast ophthalmic solution) 5% is the only prescription eye drop FDA-approved to treat both the signs AND symptoms of dry eye disease. It is available in preservative free vials and the recommended doseage is twice daily.

Autologous Serum Tears

Autologous serum tears are customized eye drops derived directly from the patient’s own blood. After a blood draw, the blood sample is centrifuged and diluted with saline or hyaluronic acid to a specific concentration based on the severity of the dry eye. Due to the fact that serum has growth factors and other similar characteristics to our own natural tears, serum tears can be more effective than over the counter artificial tears at restoring the ocular surface and improving dry eye symptoms.

Punctal Plugs

A punctal plug is a small biocompatible device that is inserted into the tear duct or puncta of the upper and/or lower eyelid to slow or stop the drainage of tears. This allows a longer contact time for the tears to lubricate the ocular surface before evaporating.

Amniotic Membrane

This is a groundbreaking dry eye treatment option used for difficult or recalcitrant dry eye cases.Amniotic Membrane “allografts” are harvested from placental tissues AFTER a full term pregnancy and an elective cesarean delivery. No harm comes to the infant or mother while harvesting the tissue. When placed on the eye, the abundance of collagen, proteins and cytokines in the tissue are proven extensively in literature and clinically to promote wound healing.

Scleral Contact Lenses

A Scleral contact lens is a specialty large diameter rigid contact lens that rests on the sclera or white part of the eye. The advantage of this lens design is to hold a reservoir of moisture on the surface of the eye to aid in protection of the ocular surface. Ask us if you are a candidate for this personalized lens today!

Artificial Tears

Lubricant eye drops, sometimes called artificial tears, are a good treatment option which provide hydration and lubrication to reduce friction on the ocular surface which can cause a dry, gritty sensation. There are preserved and non-preservative formulations. Ask your eye care provider the best option for you!

Warm Compresses

Warm moist heat therapy to the eyelids targets the oil or “meibum” in the eyelid to open the gland and aid in melting and expression of the oil. The oil helps to stabilize the tears and prolong the contact time on the surface of the eye.

Nulids

Nulids is a doctor prescribed at home dry eye therapy used to remove plaque from the eyelid, known as “biofilm,” and to promote capillary perfusion or blood flow to your lids and lashes. In just 30 seconds per day, you can improve tear film stability and tear retention time, to help relieve the symptoms of dry eye. Good eyelid hygiene is essential for healthy eyelids, lashes, and quality tear production, just like brushing your teeth is essential to good oral hygiene.
